Concrete Sleepers
(a) Concrete Sleepers:
These reinforced concrete sleepers are used to obtain a firm grip to withstand high-velocity underwater current which ensures the base of the sleepers is firmly embedded on the seabed with a corrugated cavity on the sleeper base which comes in contact with the seabed. Offshore standard Lifting Anchors are used as per the design of the sleepers considering the sleeper’s weight distribution and the safety factors.
(b) Anti-Skid concrete:
These reinforced sleepers are specifically custom-designed for muddy and soft soil seabed on the subsea installations.
Usage:
These robust reinforced concrete sleepers are used to obtain a firm grip to withstand high-velocity underwater current which ensures the base of the sleepers is firmly embedded on a high-grade steel skit. Cathodic protection techniques are applied for the protection of steel skits from corrosion reacting with saline seawater.
The sacrificial anode is fixed on the skit and the quantity of these anodes decided by the total volume of the steel skirt calculating the anticipated subsea life of the pipeline support.
Designing:
Concrete sleepers are designed according to the requirement and understanding of offshore installation to support pipelines on the seabed. These sleepers are used in a way that pipelines could move large distances and optimum designing for the lateral traveling allow the sleepers to meet the functional requirements of the project.
OPCS engineering team is highly capable to design concrete sleepers based on preliminary data from our clients. Our experts make it possible and ensure the design that meets all the expectations of the client and functional requirements of the project.
